- Put the dead laptop battery in a sealed plastic bag.
- Put the bagged hp mini 1000 battery in the freezer for about 12 hours.
- Take the bag out of the freezer, and let the battery warm up to room temperature, drying it occasionally with a towel if it appears damp.
- Put the battery back into your laptop.
- Charge the battery as much as possible, then leave the laptop on in order discharge it completely. Repeat this step 3-4 times.
- Your formerly-dead nikon d80 battery should now be much more usable, if not totally restored.

This actually sounds like a great and effective idea for restoring battery life. It works with regular batteries and I believe that it can work nicely with my laptop battery. I still have my "dead" battery at home and have 2 replacements that I carry around with the laptop. Hopefully after testing this process I will be able to use the dead one or at least gain a little more life in essential situations.
