Laptop For Dell Inspiron Mini 10

After the Inspiron Mini 9 was launched, Dell moved up and skipped the 10-inch segment altogether and pushed for the 12-incher. Turns out they're just souping up the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 battery for CES 2009. Dell has just released the Inspiron Mini 10, a new addition to the company's netbook lineup

And when I say souped-up, I meant getting a TV tuner, plus integrated GPS and 3G as well as multi-touch support. The Dell Inspiron Mini 10, announced at the ongoing 2009 CES Show in Las Vegas, features an edge-to-edge display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 720p resolution (the screen size is most likely around 10-inches), the Intel Atom Z530 processor, an "edge-to-edge" keyboard, a multi-touch touchpad, built-in TV tuner, mobile broadband connectivity, GPS receiver, and 802.11n wireless LAN.

No release date or pricing details have been released yet  for the Mini 10 but, from the details on specs that Dell have released, we know it will be fitted with a 720p display, 10 inch of course, as the name implies and the screen will be an "edge to edge display" on this model. Other features/specifications include an "edge to edge" keyboard, along with a built in TV tuner and integrated 3G WWAN/GPS. The Mini 10 will come fitted with an Atom Z530 CPU and as more details come in we'll post them up.

The Mini 10 is also promised as the most powerful netbook of the collection and should have built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi and 3G cellular access for networking as well as GPS navigation and TV tuning. A 1.6GHz Atom will translate over from the Mini 9.

Other specifications and launch details aren't available for the system.

The company today also provided an early teaser for the Adamo, showing the ultra-thin notebook for Dell Inspiron Mini 10 laptop battery for the first time at the conference (pictured here). While consciously avoiding mentioning any characteristics of the system itself, a brief in-person appearance by the system confirms a very slim but non-tapered design that shares the same black-and-silver look of the Studio XPS. It appears to confirm rumors that Dell's conscious goal to outmatch the MacBook Air through an extremely thin LCD and is described as part of a new line that would emphasize "precision craftsmanship;" an Adamo XPS with performance parts is a possibility, the company says.

Despite acknowledging the system, however, Dell contradicts the earlier leaks and now says the ultraportable won't ship until sometime in the first half of 2009. Rumors that themselves have had accurate info have previously suggested the system would launch in February, suggesting a possible delay. A Dell spokesman at the event denies this and simply says it wants to give customers a "peek" ahead of an announcement.

Separately, Dell has also launched a special deal for the Mini 9 that drops the price of a normally $449 configuration with built-in 3G down to $99. The deal requires signing a two-year, $60 per month data plan but gives the Windows-based model Inspiron Mini 10 battery both cellular access anywhere in AT&T's coverage but also free access to the company's Wi-Fi hotspots at Starbucks and elsewhere.

The dell Mini 10 is expected to have following features:

  • Intel Atom 1.6GHz Z530 CPU
  • 10.1-inch 16:9 HD 720p display (edge-to-edge)
  • multi-touch trackpad
  • edge-to-edge keyboard
  • most powerful netbook of the the Dell Netbook(Mini 9 and Mini 12)
  • built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • 3G WWAN
  • 3-in-1 Card Reader
  • Webcam
  • USB
  • Bluetooth
  • TV-tuner (USB accessory)
  • No details on pricing yet.

No specifics on storage or RAM but we're expecting 1GB and 80GB HDD as basic specs with options to upgrade both. Plus, Dell will paint the Mini 10 with a plethora of colors — 8 in all.
